Grand Prix Rules and Events
The Grand Prix is a selection of 12 popular local races over a period of 12 months, with a spread of distances between 5k and half marathon. They are mainly road races, with some multi terrain races and a cross country race included. The best 8 scores in those 12 races will count, so PWRs are able to miss up to 4 races and still have the opportunity to gain maximum points.
All PWR members who have submitted a membership application to the membership secretary by Wednesday 12 May will be eligible to participate. There will be six divisions, based upon regular appearances in the Tuesday night/Time Trial groups. In the event of any uncertainty as to which group a PWR is a member of, referral will be made to the usual group leader.
Points will be allocated to each group finisher in each race as follows:-
20 points for 1st
18 for 2nd
16 for 3rd
15 for 4th
14 for 5th
13 for 6th
and one point less for each placing after that.
The highest cumulative total at the end of 12 races from each participant's best 8 races will count towards the finishing places, taken from the official published results and trophies awarded on that basis.
