It may be a big step for you to think about joining a running club. How do you know if Petts Wood Runners is the right club for you? You might not be sure what to expect from joining the club, whether you'll enjoy running in a group?

 

Why not come along and give us a try before you make up your mind. You are very welcome to come along for three weeks to see if you like us.

 

Then, if you do want to join you can print off an application form using the link on the right which will need to be completed and returned to our Membership Secretary, Phil Morley, along with the membership fee of £12.00.

 

Once your membership has been processed, you will be issued with your welcome pack, and membership card which will entitle you to several discounts which are detailed on our Members pages link.

Individual Affiliation to England Athletics

Petts Wood Runners, as a club, is affiliated to England Athletics, SEAA and Kent County Athletic Association. For the 2008/09 season PWR will be affiliated to England Athletics in the following disciplines, which will allow PWR to compete in as a team: Road Running, Cross Country, Trail Running, Fell and Hill Running

If an individual wishes to participate in a UKA registered race as an “affiliated member” as opposed to an “unaffiliated member” they are required to apply for Individual Affiliation to England Athletics.

It is not a requirement of any member of Petts Wood Runners to have “individual affiliation”. The majority of runners will only benefit if they anticipate taking part in more than one race each year (you will save £2 per entry into each race). If you do not affiliate yourself and you do enter UKA organised races, as an unaffiliated runner you will pay an additional £2 per race which will cover your insurance for that race. You can run as a member of Petts Wood Runners in club colours if you are affiliated or unaffiliated.

The fee for individual affiliation is £5.00 for the 2008/2009 season. Petts Wood Runners are responsible for submitting your details to England Athletics via the online database. Each registered individual member will be sent an email by England Athletics with their registration number and an approximate time frame for when their card will be received. Accurate e-mail addresses are crucial for this process and I would urge all members to provide up-to-date email addresses when applying for individual membership.

How to Affiliate

In order for PWR to process all Individual members’ registration the procedure going forward will be two fold:

Stage 1:

If you wish to apply for individual affiliation please use the link on the right to print off a copy of the EA Individual Membership Form. Complete the form stating your PWR Membership Number along the top and return it to Julian Coglan, 19 Willett Close, Petts Wood, Kent BR5 1QH along with a cheque for £5.00 payable to Petts Wood Runners. If you do bring the form down to the club, please can you ensure that they are in a sealed envelope and labelled as England Affiliation Forms.

IMPORTANT

If you are renewing your individual membership to England Athletics it is extremely important that you write your England Athletics Registration Number from last year on the top of this application form. You will be required to provide this number in order to renew. If you have yet to receive your registration number for the 2007/08 season please contact England Athletics directly in order to acquire this.

If you are a new Individual member, please state NEW MEMBER on the top of the application form.

Any form not containing all of the above information will have to be returned in order to be completed fully.

Stage 2:

PWR requires you to email juliancoglan@sky.com to confirm that you have completed and forwarded your England Athletics application form along with payment AND to restate the following information in your confirmation e-mail.

Full Name, Date of Birth, Address, Email Address

The reason for restating the above information is to ensure that we have read your details on your application form correctly due to them being completed by hand. This way we can ensure that the correct information is entered and your application can be processed as quickly as possible.
